For men who experience this condition, gynecomastia can be a leading cause of inverted nipple surgery.

What is involved in this procedure?

Once your surgeon has determined the exact cause of the inversion, your surgeon will utilize a variety of techniques to create a more forward projecting nipple shape. If you have a flat nipple, your surgeon may make a small incision to release the tethered ducts that are causing the inverted nipple concern. Sutures are then used to provide natural support while the nipples heal.

Can I Breast Feed Following Inverted Nipple Surgery?

This procedure usually requires division of some of the milk ducts to release any tethering holding the nipple in the inverted position. Sensitivity of the nipple and breastfeeding could be affected. If this is a concern, please talk to your surgeon during your consultation as there are techniques that can be used to preserve more of the nerves and ducts that are connected to the nipple.
