What does Recovery look like for this Procedure?

After this procedure patients tend to be tired and a bit store in the chest area for the first 2 to 5 days. Some bruising and swelling can occur, but usually subsides within the first 2 weeks or so. Some patients may also experience some increased tightness and sensitivity in the breast and the skin can feel itchy around the incision site.  Your surgeon will prescribe some specific medications that will help with the discomfort and healing process.

You can expect your recovery timeline to look similar to:

  • It will be recommended that you sleep on your back in an elevated position during the initial healing process.
  • You should be able to return to work a week post-op.
  • You will be able to resume activities such as exercising and housework after a week, based on your surgeon’s recommendation.
  • No driving for at least 2 weeks.
  • No heavy lifting, pulling or pushing over 5 pounds for a month, based on your surgeon’s recommendation.
  • No high impact exercising for at least a month.

After your surgery, your breast will continue to heal into their new shape once swelling subsides. You will also start to see your implants settling into their new position as well as the improvement of scarring. You will be able to see your desired look in about a month, however, it takes several months for the implants to fully settle, sensations to return to normal, and scarring to fade completely.

Will I need to Replace my Implants?

A Breast Augmentation that includes a lift is typically a long-lasting procedure, however our priorities in life sometimes shift based on lifestyle and life stage. Your breasts can change due to a variety of factors that include:

  • Weight loss or gain.
  • Pregnancy
  • Hormone imbalances

It is usually suggested that you have a revision around the 10-year mark. Some patients undergo breast revision surgery to exchange implants, increase or decrease size, or opt for another lift to restore a more youthful shape and contour. Normally, implants do not need to be exchanged unless they are causing some type of discomfort, or internal disruption.
